The SNP have vowed to put “Scotland first” after beating Labour to remain the main party in Dundee West. In Dundee West, Chris Law was returned for the SNP with 18,045 votes. Labour’s Alan Cowan was second with 12,783 votes. The SNP is unlikely to enter into any formal coalition but Mr Law said they would be happy to join a “progressive alliance”. “We’ve always said we would work with a progressive alliance but most importantly we would be putting Scotland first,” he said, He added: “We’ve had six campaigns in the last three years but we have a very hard working team and the result is a credit to them.” Mr Law also pledged to keep working for Dundee and to help deliver the Tay Cities Deal.
