Specialist police will be deployed in a Dundee street after two women were assaulted in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police Scotland confirmed the officers will assist local police with enquiries following the incident.
The assault occurred between 3:45am and 4:15am on Dundee’s Court Street.
It’s understood that despite the assault, the two female victims were uninjured.
Residents reported seeing armed police driving Jeeps around the area. They were told by police to stay in “for their own safety”.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are appealing for anybody who may have been in the area around this time and who may have seen a silver car with two male occupants before it drove off at speed.
“As part of this investigation, specialist officers have been deployed in support of local officers who have made enquiries at addresses in the area. Police Scotland can confirm that the presence of these specialist officers is not linked to the current threat level against the UK.
“Anyone who has information that could assist with the investigation is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference number 1374 of 10/06 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.”
