Tayside residents will enjoy some sweltering conditions tomorrow – but the best of the warm weather is due to hit further into the north-east.
An updated forecast from the Met Office this evening said Aberdeen and the surrounding area will be among the best places in Scotland to enjoy this weekend’s mini-heatwave.
Yesterday the Met Office said they wouldn’t rule out temperatures of between 26C and 28C hitting Courier Country – hotter than the likes of Mexico City and Tenerife.
However Aberdeen city and shire is more likely to enjoy highs of 26C, with up-to-date predictions showing the mercury will rise to 24C in Dundee and the surrounding area.
Perth and Fife should also enjoy the heatwave.
This weekend is expected to bring with it the UK’s hottest day of the year – with temperatures in England expected to surge to 30C.
Met Office meteorologist Ian Robinson said: “Chances are there will be a little bit of cloud around at the start of the day. It should break up as we go through the morning onward really. We’re certainly seeing a brightening up (with) plenty sun around.
“It could be 23C or 24C in Dundee. Probably up towards Aberdeen it will be a bit higher, 25C-26C.
“In Perthshire the further west you go the more likely you are to run into cloud.
“During the course of Sunday it will be a similar sort of thing, but (it will be) cloudy further north.”
