Vandals have damaged an Oor Wullie statue bought for the Broughty Ferry community for £10,000.
The Oor Lifesaver Oor Wullie statue had been put on display in the pier next to the lifeboat shed but is to be taken away from repairs after being damaged.
Broughty Ferry RNLI helped raised £10,000 to buy the statue at auction last year.
He was put on display on the pier next to the lifeboat shed a few weeks ago but is now having to be removed for his own safety after being damaged by vandals.
Broughty Ferry RNLI has said although the statue will continue to be put on public display, it will only go on display in places where it can be protected.
Crewman Ewan Philp said: “He’s only been out for a couple of weeks but he has been damaged.
“People have been throwing stones at him and climbing over him.
“We are just disappointed but want people to know we are taking him away for his own safety.”
