Credit: Ron Cathro. Firefighters have tackled a blaze at a former Dundee hospital. The fire broke out at the former Strathmartine Hospital on Baldovan Road at 6.54pm. The grass fire was brought under control using beaters. A fire and rescue spokeswoman said: “It was a fire out in the open. We got the first call at 6.54pm. “We sent one appliance from Macalpine Road. It was a grass fire.” She could not confirm if the blaze was deliberate. The building has been the site of several fires throughout the years, most recently in April. During April and May last year there were two serious fires at the derelict hospital – both said to have been started deliberately.
