Railway line closed after death
The railway line between Dundee and Aberdeen was closed as a result of the incident.
Services were suspended between Montrose and Aberdeen, and Dundee and Arbroath.

National Rail said services may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
The line reopened at 1.45pm but disruption was expected until 3pm.
Alternative transport between Dundee and Aberdeen
Passengers were able to use their train tickets on:
- Stagecoach services on route 73/73A between Dundee and Arbroath.

- LNER services between Aberdeen and Edinburgh
Rail replacement transport from Dundee was running but, due to limited availability, ScotRail was unable to source replacement transport for Aberdeen.
Incident followed signalling fault
The incident came hours after a signalling fault in the Arbroath area was cited for closing the same line.
Network Rail tweeted: “We’ve fixed the signalling issue between Arbroath and Dundee, however, the emergency services are dealing with an incident on the line in the area now.
“Services will continue to be disrupted while they work.”
