A Dundee flyball team have been left stranded following Sunday’s devastating Mill O’ Mains fire.
Pavilion Musical Paws flyball team had stored expensive equipment in the targeted pavilion before the beloved building burned to the ground.
The team, who take part in flyball, a competitive sport for dogs, have since been unable to gain access to the site and they have no idea about the condition of their equipment.
To make matters worse, they had planned to train at the pavilion ahead of an important competition this weekend at Camperdown Park.
Team captain Loraine Kidd said: “We’re a bit anxious to see if it is damaged and we can’t access it (the pavilion) until it is deemed safe.
“We were really upset when we were told the fire was happening.
“We were misinformed and told the equipment was ruined, but we’re now told that is not the case.
“We’re still very much in the dark.
“We train on grass at the back of the pavilion, so we need to find somewhere else to train as well.
“I spoke to the council today (Tuesday) and they are going to try to gain access before Saturday.”
Despite being left hanging, Loraine has been impressed by the level of assistance offered by the Scottish flyball community.
After issuing an online appeal, Loraine and her team have been offered a place to train ahead of this weekend’s competition as well as a loan of vital equipment.
Loraine said: “We have been offered training facilities from other clubs and offered help in regards to using other competition equipment.
“They (flyball clubs throughout Scotland) have all been very helpful.
“The response was good.”
Meanwhile, Tesco’s community champion Ruby Young handed over a donation of toys for children who had used the pavilion for their play groups and now have nowhere to go.
