Hundreds of people have backed calls to rebuild a Dundee community centre destroyed by fire.
The popular Mill O’ Mains Community Pavilion went up in flames on Sunday evening.
It’s thought a wheelie bin and large “tractor” tyre were used to start the blaze.
Council contractors began demolishing what remains of the building on Wednesday morning.
Locals have spoken of their devastation at the loss of the pavilion.
The facility acted as a community hub for children’s clubs and fitness classes.
Volunteer Yvonne Mullen described the facility as “the heart” of the area.
Now, determined residents have launched a petition calling for the pavilion to be rebuilt.
Dundee City Council has already confirmed it is in the process of seeking new accommodation to meet the needs of clubs which relied on the pavilion.
Local people however are desperate to see the return of their beloved pavilion.
As of Wednesday morning, close to 500 people pledged their support for the petition directed towards Dundee City Council.
Such has been the success of the petition, council leader John Alexander has already responded to its creator, Andrew Batchelor.
Mr Alexander has insisted he wants the Mill O’ Mains community to play a pivotal role in the future of the pavilion.
