Two people have been taken to hospital following what police have described as an “incident” at a Dundee industrial estate.
Emergency services rushed to West Pitkerro Industrial Estate after the alarm was raised at around 4.50pm on Wednesday afternoon and it is understood that a man and a women were taken to the city’s Ninewells Hospital in separate ambulances with serious injuries following some sort of altercation.
No details on their conditions have been released by police, but officers immediately cordoned off a large section of Ainslie Street as investigations into exactly what happened got under way.
A number of industrial units are situated within the cordon, and it remains unclear exactly whether the disturbance took place in one of the units or outside.
Police sniffer dogs and their handlers could be seen scouring parts of the industrial estate, and officers were questioning local business owners who had been told to stay put.
However, pedestrians and cars were prevented from going down the route alongside the units where the police had focused their attention.
One worker, who did not wish to be named, said: “We’re not exactly sure what’s happened but all of a sudden there were loads of police cars with their blue lights on in the road.
“We’ve been trying to find out what’s gone on but not getting many answers.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said their enquiries were at an early stage and refused to comment further on the nature of the incident.
A walkway a few hundred yards away, near the Sainsbury’s supermarket, was also marked with police tape and appeared to form part of the investigation.
