Indie rockers The Charlatans were among the highlights of Scotland’s newest music festival at the weekend.

And the band’s lead singer Tim Burgess had people wondering if he was backing Dundee’s 2023 European Capital of Culture bid when he took to the Mardi Gras stage of Carnival 56 on Sunday.

The musician was donning a yellow shirt with “2023” on the front in Camperdown Park.

After Courier reporter, Jake Keith, made the link the Dundee 2023 team themselves got involved on Twitter.

They said: “Brilliant! Thanks so much Tim Burgess for coming and supporting #Dundee2023!”

The shirt was in fact a K2 Plant Hire Ltd one likely linked to the film 2023 The Triptych, described as a “response” to a book also entitled 2023.
