Dundee City Council leader John Alexander has vowed to “rally around” the 99 workers made unemployed from Dundee firm Scottish Electric Group (SEG).
The Courier revealed on Thursday morning that the firm, based at Dundee Technology Park, had entered liquidation, resulting in job losses.
Council leader Mr Alexander has now said impacted workers must be supported swiftly.
The Strathmartine councillor said: “Announcements of this nature are always difficult but what’s important to me now, is that we move swiftly to support the skilled staff.
“These staff are highly skilled and I hope that other companies in the city will rally behind and seek to employ then. If anyone is looking for a highly skilled, disciplined workforce then it’s a no-brainer.”
Mr Alexander added that he plans to “rally around those that have lost their jobs”.
