Thousands of people will head to Camperdown Park for the Dundee Flower and Food Festival, which starts on Friday.
The three-day extravaganza, which is the premier event of its kind in Scotland, kicks off after months of preparation.
A number of celebrity guests will make an appearance including Gary Maclean, who won TV show MasterChef: The Professionals in 2016, as well as fellow culinary experts Nick Nairn and Tony Singh and gardening guru Jim McColl.
Dundee City Council neighbourhood services depute convener Anne Rendall, whose department’s apprentices were among the crew getting the show ground ready, had a sneak preview of this year’s festival.
The good news is the weather forecast is looking generally favourable.
She said: “It’s great that all the months of preparation are now coming together for the opening of the festival.
“I have no doubt that visitors will be delighted with colourful floral displays and the quality of the celebrity guest that are starring over the weekend.
“This year’s festival is on track to be as popular as ever and we have managed to attract a range of celebrities that will appeal to a wide audience. I can safely say visitors are in for a treat.
“There are slight changes to the layout to make it more user-friendly.”
Dundee’s music scene will also be showcased, with bands which have featured on the popular Sound of Dundee CD compilations taking over the music stage, joined by other up-and-coming acts as well as popular children’s entertainer Andy Day and the Woodlands Dance orchestra.
Acts featured include Jonny Jewel, Kashmir Crows, Sonny Carntyne, Esperi and Elephant Sessions.
City council neighbourhood resources convener Councillor Kevin Cordell said: “This a tremendous lineup of bands and musicians reflecting the diversity of the music scene in Dundee and beyond.
“The Flower and Food Festival appeals to a broad range of people and I am pleased that we can use the music stage as showcase for local musical talent.”
Xplore Dundee will be running their number 53 service to and from Camperdown Park all weekend, every half hour between 10am and 5.30pm.
