A run along the Ferry Esplanade will be held to remember those who have fallen in war.
The ‘Run to Remember’, organised by personal trainer Martin Brady, has been created as a new way of remembering fallen soldiers, and has been organised in conjunction with Help For Heroes.
Described by Martin as “a run but not a race”, the 11km route will take the runners from the RNLI station in Broughty Ferry to Monifieth War Memorial and back on Remembrance Day.
He hopes it will take place annually and with a large number of parties already involved – from local business to the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, and the British Legion Riders Branch – it has already caught the imagination.
A pipe band will play at Broughty Ferry Rock Garden and an armoured vehicle will put in an appearance at the run.
Martin, who served in the armed forces with the Dragoon Guards, said: “It’s a completely new way to do a remembrance event, and it’s open to anyone who wants to get involved. Already around 70 people are taking part, with 127 people registered as interested.”
There will be a collection on the day for Help the Heroes.
