A tank shocked locals when it appeared in Dundee city centre today.
The military vehicle was spotted crossing the Marketgait before heading up Union Street for its procession towards the City Square.
However, any locals who feared a military coup on the City Chambers can rest easy. The vehicle, from Tank Driving Scotland near Auchterhouse, was there to coincide with the Virgin Media Business Voom Tour, which is taking place in the City Square.
Tank Driving Scotland owner Rod Sim staged the audacious stunt to try to grab Virgin owner Sir Richard Branson’s attention after missing out on his bid to win £5,000 in the mogul’s business competition.
Mr Sim said: “My application was, unfortunately, declined. So, in true Richard Branson style, I thought ‘What better thing to do than take a tank and gatecrash the party?
“There’s no better way to get someone’s attention!”
Branson himself famously destroyed a wall of drinks cans in New York in 1998 when launching Virgin Cola.
