A former Dundee primary school is being razed to the ground to make way for new housing.
The St Joseph’s Primary School building has been closed for some years and is being demolished and replaced with flats aimed at first-time buyers and students.
Bonnybridge firm Central Demolition has begun the process of reducing the former school to rubble.
Developer Kirkwood Homes originally planned to build 49 new houses on the Bellfield Street site, directly across from the Whitehall Theatre. However, the plans were later revised to 45 flats and were approved in June.
The distinctive brick-built school was designed in 1915 but the developer previously said it was “not suitable for conversion on grounds of practicality”.
The St Joseph’s Primary name lives on at a newly-built school in nearby Glenagnes Road.
