Police hunting for ski-goggle clad teenagers who tried to rob a petrol station with a weapon have released CCTV images of the boys they wish to speak to.
Two youths attempted to steal from the Sainsbury’s petrol station on Tom Johnstone Road after walking in and threatening staff with weapons.
Undeterred, the brave attendants refused to hand any money over before raising the alarm.
The cowardly pair, both described as being only slightly taller than five foot in height, scarpered from the scene empty handed before meeting a third boy and making their escape.
The accomplice was sitting on a distinctive coloured mountain bike according to police and officers would like to speak to three people in connection to the event.
Police will also return to the scene at 10pm on Saturday as part of their ongoing investigation, speaking to customers and motorists about what they may have remembered.
The botched raid took place on Saturday November 18 at around 10.40pm.
Police have also released a description of the would-be thieves.
The first male is described as five foot three inches in height, of medium build and was wearing a black North Face jacket, black tracksuit bottoms and ski goggles. He is thought to be a teenager.
The second male, believed to be in his teens, is five foot tall, of thin build and was wearing a black North Face jacket, grey jogging bottoms.
He had also covered his face, but with a dark coloured scarf.
The third boy on the mountain bike was wearing a navy or blue zip up jacket with a fur lined hood and grey tracksuit bottoms. His mountain bike had luminous yellow logos across it.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Detectives will be returning to the scene on Saturday between 10pm and 11.30pm.
“Officers will be speaking to customers and motorists to ask if they have any information that may assist their inquiries.
“Anyone with any information that may be useful should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting CR/30229/17 or speak to any police officer. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111”
