Guests in a Broughty Ferry hotel had to run into the freezing cold after an electrical fire sparked the building’s evacuation. A fan in the cellar of Jolly’s Hotel caught fire around 3am on Sunday. This triggered the hotel’s smoke detectors and the night manager advised residents to leave the building while fire services deal with the incident. Scottish Fire and Rescue sent three appliances to extinguish the blaze. Guests were able then able to return to their rooms. No one was hurt in the incident and the fire and the Gray Street hotel opened as normal on Sunday.
