A major new housing development to the west of Dundee has taken a step forward with the submission of plans to the council.
Phase two of the residential development at Dykes of Gray, a short distance from the Double Tree Hilton hotel, will feature 32 homes in a variety of sizes.
Persimmon Homes North Scotland has submitted the proposals to Dundee City Council, which is expected to rule on them in the new year.
The initial plan to develop a new village of 365 homes, play space, retail space and offices, was approved by the development management committee in 2015.
Phase two will see homes built on the western edge of the expanding development.
Persimmon has said the houses will be a mixture of family homes.
“The housing within this area is of 3 and 4 bedroom dwellings in order to
maximise the amount of amenity space to private gardens and also minimise the
amount of traffic in terms of the semi-rural setting,” they said in a statement.
“This also allows the development to maximise the views, outlook and setting and to realise the full development potential of the site.
“Outlook from public rooms including the lounge, kitchen, dining room and family rooms is key, to avoid privacy issues and ensure positive outlook to main routes where
required.
“The houses have been designed and selected to provide privacy
and activity as appropriate to the street conditions.
“Frontage with low boundary treatment such as hedges, low fences and walls, has been applied to principal public edges with high fencing to rear gardens for private garden space.”
When the Dykes of Gray site was approved, Persimmon had to detail where any potential primary school would go, if required in the future as a result of the influx of residents.
The initial application had been refused in December 2014 because of a failure to address this.
