Applications are now open for this year’s Race for Life Dundee event at Camperdown Park.
Women across the city are being encouraged to kick start the new year by signing up to the Cancer Research UK challenge, which will be held on Sunday June 17.
The day will feature 5K and 10K events in the morning, followed by Pretty Muddy Dundee, a 5K mud-splattered obstacle course starting at 1pm.
Money raised will help scientists find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease, helping save more lives.
Women are currently being offered 30% off entry fees for all Race for Life events taking place across Scotland between May and September.
Lisa Adams, Cancer Research UK’s spokeswoman in Scotland, said: “January is the perfect time for women across the Dundee area to commit to getting a little more active and taking on a new fitness challenge.
“The race offers the ultimate motivation. By taking part and raising money, participants will be helping to fund vital cancer research.”
She said the Race for Life series had given women a chance to unite with others to try to defeat a disease which affects everyone in some way. Events are non-competitive and participants can choose to walk, jog, or run around the course.
“Whether they’re planning a 5K stroll, a 10K sprint or a muddy splash around a Pretty Muddy course, every step women take will help to support life-saving research,” she added.
“Pledging to take part is a great incentive for women to pull on their trainers and join thousands of ladies across the UK who are coming together in the fight against cancer.”
