Police are chasing a man they believe tried to break into two homes in the Menzieshill area of Dundee in the early hours of Monday morning.
The first incident took place just after midnight when a man was disturbed in the garden of a house in Ancrum Drive attempting to enter the back door.
He was chased off by the occupier through the back gardens.
Secondly, at about 1.15am, a man was disturbed within a house in Kirkstead Drive. He had entered through an unlocked door, but ran off before he could take anything.
The person described in both incidents is male, in his 30s, wearing a black jacket possibly with orange writing near the shoulder, and grey bottoms.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Given the similarity in description, proximity of the two addresses and the time-frame involved, we think this could well be the same person in both incidents.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to double check that your homes are locked and secured at night.
“If you have any information which could help us, please call 101 or speak with any police officer. Also, information can be given anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111. Our reference is CR/1146/18.”
