A minute’s applause was held at Wednesday night’s Dundee FC v Hibs match to honour a football fan who died after taking ill in the Dens Park stands.
William Ritchie passed away aged 65 after becoming unwell in the Bobby Cox stand at Saturday’s clash with Inverness.
His son, Nathan Ritchie, expressed his thanks to those who honoured William at the most recent game.
He said: “I’d like to thank every, fan, friend, stranger and all those associated with Dundee Football Club who have shown kindness and generosity beyond anything I could have imagined for my dad’s sudden passing, having taken ill in the Bobby Cox last Saturday.
“To allow my sister and myself to lay flowers and scarf on his seat tonight and give him the honour of a minutes applause before the game will never, ever be forgotten by myself or my family.”
William is survived by his wife Fran, son Nathan and daughter Erin, son and daughter-in-law Gordon and Sharon and granddaughters Emily, Esme, Sophia and Ferne.
