Locals across Courier Country have been warned of an “increased risk of injuries or accidents” as the region braces for another freeze.
Temperatures are expected to plummet across Scotland from Friday night into Saturday, with snow and rain likely to cause dangerous conditions as it lands on frozen surfaces.
A yellow warning of ice has been issued for the whole of Tayside and Fife and Grampian from 1am on Saturday until 11pm.
It comes as forecasters warn of deteriorating weather conditions going into next week, with the wintry weather due to continue.
Snow could land on the highest ground in Tayside and Fife throughout Saturday.
A Met Office statement said: “Rain and snow falling on frozen surfaces brings the threat of ice. Journeys by car, bike and foot may take longer than normal and there is an increased risk of injuries or accidents.”
The organisation’s chief forecaster added: “As we enter a spell of cold weather, a band of rain and snow will move into the UK overnight and into Saturday.
“Over high ground in Scotland and across the higher Pennine routes, snowfall may amount to 2cm or 3cm (0.8in – 1.2in) in places. However the main hazards seem more likely to come from ice, where rain falls on frozen surfaces.”
