A car mysteriously ended up in the water at Broughty Ferry Beach on Friday afternoon.
The maroon coloured vehicle was photographed on the sand near Broughty Castle with waves lapping around it at about 3.30pm.
Local businessman Sandro Paladini was walking his dog along the beach when he spotted the vehicle.
Nobody was inside the car and police said they were not called to the scene. It is believe it may have rolled down the slipway onto the sand.
Mr Paladini, a partner at Eduardo Alessandro Studios, said: “I was just walking on the beach today and there it was. It was near the slipway. It tended to look like a handbrake failure or something.
“You do have to feel as if it rolled down the slipway. I don’t actually know that for sure.
“As you can see from the photos the water was quite high on the car at that time, I couldn’t figure out if the water was coming in or going out at the time.
“Nobody was in the car. The owners could have just been standing at the side waiting on recovery.
“It was a very odd thing to see. There was quite a few people taking photographs. I feel sorry for the owners. All I could think was how corrosive the water would be and it was going to take a lot of drying out.”
He added that other than coastguard vehicles, he had never seen a car on the sands of the beach before.
