The family of missing Liam Colgan will hold a collection at Dundee United’s game tonight to help fund the search for the Tangerines fan.

Liam, 29, vanished on February 10 while on a stag weekend in Hamburg he had organised for his brother Eamonn, a police officer in Dundee.

His family have been travelling to and from the German city on rotation to help in the search, with a GoFundMe page so far raising almost £10,000.

Now Liam’s cousin Leanne Maillie, who lives in Dundee’s West End, is organising a collection for more funds at United’s home game against Queen of the South.

Leanne, 28, said: “The search is very much still ongoing. We very much think he’s still out there.

“We’ve been out to Hamburg already and there are a lot of family members who have been going out. We’ve had a great response and there will be about 12 of us out at Tannadice doing what we can to raise the money.”

Leanne added: “There’s been a huge effort here.

“We’ve got lots of people taking care of the messages and monitoring social media.”

The fundraiser comes after United manager Csaba Laszlo made a fresh video appeal for Liam to get in touch with his family.

Club captain Willo Flood made a similar appeal soon after Liam went missing.

He was last seen in a bar in Hamburg at 1.30am on Saturday February 10 and has since been positively identified on CCTV walking towards the city’s Portuguese Quarter at around 2.30am on the same day.
