Dundee’s two main shopping centres are closing early because of the Beast from the East.
Both the Overgate and Wellgate centres announced they would close at 2.30pm because of the weather.
A spokesman for the Overgate said: “Due to the current weather warnings for Dundee and surrounding areas, Overgate will close today at 2.30pm.
“The safety of our customers and staff is our top priority.”
A spokesman for the Wellgate Centre added: “Apologies if this causes inconvenience to some but the safety of staff and customers is our priority.”
Dundee city centre is eerily quiet as many people seem to have heeded the warnings to stay home and out of the bitterly cold weather.
Although the red Met Office warning expired at 10am, Dundee has seen regular snow showers today and a cold easterly wind is making it feel truly Siberian outside.
