Dundee port chiefs say an offshore support vessel which has been positioned in the middle of the River Tay for almost 24 hours is not in any trouble — and is in fact a sign of booming business at the city’s port.
The Belgian-registered tug Union Lynx has been stationary a mile east of the road bridge since shortly after 4pm on Monday.
The Union Lynx left port at around 4pm on Monday and has remained fixed in the middle of the Tay.
A spokeswoman for Forth Ports, which owns and operates the Port of Dundee, confirmed the 75m vessel is in full working order.
The spokeswoman said: “The vessel is out at an anchor point because it is so busy in Dundee.
“Holding it there frees up berth space for other vessels.”
