‘It melts your heart’: Beautiful moment Dundee dad and three-year-old daughter perform You’ve Got a Friend in Me

This is the heartwarming moment a Dundee girl joined her dad for a sing-a-long while she was in the bath.

Musician Johnny Scullion was playing You’ve Got a Friend in Me by Randy Newman on his acoustic guitar when his three-year-old daughter, Gracie Mae, decided to show off her impressive singing skills.

The heartwarming moment the pair played the tune, which was popularised by Disney Pixar classic Toy Story, was captured on video so it could be sent on to family members.

The clip was uploaded to his Youtube channel.

Originally from Country Armagh, Mr Scullion said music was a big part of his upbringing.

And he believes his daughter “definitely” possesses musical talent of her own.

The 35-year-old said: “I always sit in with her in the bath and watch over her. She just gradually started singing along herself. She put a lot of feeling into it and was copying and mimicking me.

“It is full of love and that is what I am all about. She was putting so much into it. It melts your heart, it’s lovely. I send the videos back home for my family. It was special.

“We sing all the time. I gig in the pubs in Perth and Dundee. Music was large for me back home growing up, I am giving her as much good music as possible.”

He added the pair are currently nailing down a couple of other tunes, including a Beatles classic.

“We have almost got every word to Blackbird. She puts quite a lot of feeling into it as well,” Mr Scullion said.

“I work during the week, I just do the odd gig, just myself doing covers. I try to write my own stuff.

“It is a Gaelic thing – Irish and Scottish people are musical and passionate.

“She also plays the harmonica as well. If the video makes one person smile I am happy with that.”

Mum Claire O’Neill said: “I watch the video every day. They make me so proud.”

Mr Scullion’s next gig is on Saturday, March 31 at 8pm at the Caledonian Bar in Perth.
