A baby girl is seriously ill in hospital after sustaining “unexplained” injuries at a house in Dundee.
Police Scotland says the incident happened on Eater Sunday at an address in Kerrsview Terrace.
A 10-month-old girl sustained serious injuries which are as yet unexplained. She is in a serious but stable condition in the Royal Hospital For Sick Children in Edinburgh.
Police Scotland refused to say if any arrests have been made in connection with the incident but confirmed an investigation is under way.
Police also refused to divulge the nature of the baby’s injuries.
Residents of the quiet residential street were stunned by Sunday’s events.
Kerrsview Terrace resident Chanelle Duncan, 26, who lives nearby said: “I saw the ambulance arrive on Sunday — you couldn’t miss that — but I don’t know what has happened.”
Near neighbour Charlie Doran, 57, a glass worker, said: “I saw the police vehicles were parked outside when I came home from work at around 10.45pm on Sunday.
“I didn’t know what was going on but it certainly looked like a domestic incident.
“The police were back again from around 9am this morning and I saw one officer sitting outside the flats in a van.
“There’s been a lot of talk about what’s gone on but no one I’ve spoken to knows for sure what happened.”
Detective Inspector Ray Birnie, of Tayside Division’s Public Protection Unit, said: “Police Scotland received a report that a 10-month-old child had sustained serious injuries within a property in Kerrsview Terrace, Dundee around lunchtime on Sunday 1st April.
“The child remains in a serious but stable condition having been transferred to the Royal Hospital For Sick Children in Edinburgh.
“Enquiries into this incident are at an early stage and we are conducting these in partnership with Dundee City Council Social Work Department and the NHS.
“There will be ongoing police activity at the address in the days ahead.
“I would like to thank the local community for their patience whilst we deal with this incident. I would also ask that if they have any information that could assist us then to please come forward.”
A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 3.44pm on Sunday April 1 to attend an incident at Kerrsview Terrace, Dundee.
“We dispatched one ambulance and a paramedic response unit to the scene and an infant was transported to Ninewells Hospital.”
