A police probe has been launched following a blaze at a former Dundee high school.
More than 40 firefighters attended the Kirkton site of the old Baldragon Academy on Burn Street on Saturday as flames raged across multiple buildings.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed six pumps and a command support unit were sent to the scene at around 3.27pm, with a total of 43 workers involved in tackling the blaze.
Crews remained at the location for nearly four hours after initially struggling to gain access through the gates into the boarded up former school blocks.
They were finally able to leave the scene at around 7.15pm.
No injuries were reported, however, a building to the rear of the site showed signs of significant fire damage.
Another had its windows opened out by firefighters in an attempt to release the plumes of smoke building up inside.
Block 1, the tallest at the site, had a number of windows smashed through entirely to allow a fire hose to pass into the rear of the premises.
It is understood residents had previously raised safety concerns after local youths were spotted climbing onto the roofs and repeatedly vandalising some of the blocks.
One man, who asked not to be named, said he warned a friend just days earlier that “the place will go up in smoke”.
“We’ve seen the kids, some of them about 12 years old, climbing up onto the roofs and jumping down on the grass,” he said.
“They should have kept somebody in that school; there should have been someone there all the time.
“I think the security cameras have all been taken away and the lights don’t even go on now. There’s just been no foresight on this at all.
“There hasn’t even been anyone round to give us a number to call or place to go when we do see something going on.”
Pupils moved into the new Baldragon Academy site nearby in February.
It is understood the old buildings will eventually be torn down, with new houses likely to be built on the land.
Neighbours reported seeing officers talking to local youngsters on Saturday, although it is not yet known how the blaze started.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said units were asked to attend the scene shortly after the alarm was first raised.
She confirmed an investigation had been launched into the incident and a crime report had been submitted.
