The musical entertainment for this year’s Westfest Big Sunday has been announced.
Ska-punk band Bombskare and Dundee’s Buffalo Soldiers are the star attractions at this year’s Westfest Big Sunday.
Back by popular demand for the first time in two years, Buffalo Soldiers will provide a Bob Marley-style celebration for the expected 10,000 or so revellers at Magdalen Green on Sunday June 3.
Co-headliners Bombskare, featuring Dundee-born members Calum Cummins on saxophone and keyboard player Matthew Bartlett (pictured right), are one of the most energetic and exciting bands on the UK circuit.
Winners of the BBC2 UK’s Best Part-Time Band 2016 competition, the self-proclaimed “sorcerers of skank” from Edinburgh are hugely popular on the festival scene and performed at last year’s Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.
The city’s biggest outdoor gala day will feature six bands in total
Included on the bill this year will be the Dundee Schools Rock Band, up-and-coming young band The Mnemonics and popular local five-piece outfit Coconut Groove.
Completing the line-up for the main stage will be the winners of this year’s Westfest Battle of the Bands competition, which will reach its conclusion at Church bar the evening before Westfest on Saturday June 2.
Among the other attractions are a DJ tent, funfair, children’s rides, bouncy castle and other kids’ attractions, food stalls, tombola, arts and crafts and much more.
Westfest Big Sunday 2018 takes place on June 3 from 1pm – 7pm. Admission is free.
