One of Dundee’s most well known industrial landmarks is passing into history as demolition crews begin their work.
The Wallace Craigie Works at Blackscroft, famous for its yellow “William Halley & Sons” sign, has been in a state of dereliction for years.
The former flax and jute mill had long been on the Buildings at Risk Register. Despite a number of proposals to develop the main building into housing over recent years, its continued decline meant none came to fruition.
Extensions beside the main building had been knocked down previously, but crews from Central Demolition arrived to begin pulling down the main building, which dates from 1834, on Friday morning.
