The McManus Museum in Dundee is getting ready to host its biggest day of the year.
A linotype machine from DC Thomson’s archives was hauled into place on Thursday as organisers set-up for the annual Festival of Museums on Saturday.
We were very excited to watch the arrival of a very interesting piece of machinery this morning, on loan from DC Thomson & Co Ltd! This Intertype by Intertype Ltd is from the early 20th century and was used by DC Thomson & Co Ltd until the 1980s. Find out more about this fascinating object at this Saturday's Festival of Museums event when our Conservator Becky Jackson-Hunt will be on hand to talk about her work in preparing objects for our upcoming exhibition Bash Street’s Back at The McMenace!#FOM2018 #Dundee2018 #LoveDundee
The theme for 2018 is Generation Dundee, inspired by the museum’s portraiture exhibitions from Dundee’s permanent collections and Scotland’s Year of Young People.
There is a packed programme, highlights include performances from local young musicians, dancers, and poets.
There will also be curator and conservator gallery talks, with theatre performances that will take us back in time to reveal the lives of past generations of young people.
