A man is to stand trial accused of defrauding his bank – by repeatedly claiming he had been the victim of scams.
Adam Fraser is alleged to have repeatedly told Lloyds Banking Group that his Bank of Scotland bank card had been used without his knowledge or consent to buy goods and transfer money.
Prosecutors say he claimed to have “been a repeated victim of fraud” – but that in truth he had made the transactions he claimed were fraudulent.
It is alleged he induced the bank to reimburse him for a total of £6,895.38 for the transactions he had claimed were not legitimate.
Fraser, 23, of North Mains of Liff, Muirhead, denied the charge when he made his first appearance at Dundee Sheriff Court today.
He faces a single charge of obtaining £6895.38 by fraud between March 7 2016 and August 31 2016.
Sheriff Alastair Carmichael set a trial date in August and ordered him to appear at a pre-trial hearing in July.
