If you are experiencing back pain, you might think that resting and taking a few painkillers will sort it out. But addressing the cause with professional help can transform your quality of life, according to one Dundee clinic.
Due to the success with outreach, education and meeting many new patients in all of their clinics (Dundee, Glenrothes and Edinburgh) during the recent Spinal Awareness Week, they are extending the 25% off initial consultations on a Tuesday and Friday in Dundee and Thursdays and Saturday mornings in Fife until the end of June.
For Dundee Chiropractic Clinic, a healthy and functioning spine, neck and pelvis means a lot more than just avoiding back pain – it can make the difference to a person’s quality of life.
And it’s not just back pain. People experiencing issues with their hips, shoulders, knees, wrists, elbows and feet can also benefit from a visit to the chiropractor.
Dr Jayne Brassington explained: “We have been in the city for over 10 years now and we want to help people understand the function of their bodies and why they might be experiencing pain or movements that are not working properly.
“At the clinic, we can help provide relief from the pain or irritation but we also want to increase people’s overall health. And the more understanding and respect people have for their bodies, the better they will feel, both mentally and physically.”
Dr Brassington added that during appointments, the chiropractor will look at everything involved in the injury, which is known as the “kinetic chain”.
She said: “Now that people are using technology and sitting down more, we are seeing different types of injuries that are caused over a long period of time, as opposed to injuries from accidents.
“Looking at the circumstances around the pain can identify the cause, which we can then work on to help recovery.”
During your visit, you may receive an adjustment, the session starts with different tests to find the root cause of the problem. The chiropractor will then apply different gentle techniques to the body, releasing tension and allowing the body to function and heal.
These various techniques are used at Dundee and Fife Chiropractic Clinics and are centred around a patient-specific approach to care.
The Dundee and Fife clinics also focus on post-natal and pregnancy care – one of the few in Britain that are specially educated to do so.
They offer a paediatric and pregnancy service, overseen by Dr Brassington, who has a postgraduate in Clinical Pediatrics and Pregnancy and is the only person in Scotland with this clinical qualification.
“Chiropractic treatment is hugely beneficial because a woman’s body is changing so rapidly and then changing back again and the body may need help to adapt.
“It also helps create a better response to post-partum.”
But Dundee Chiropractic Clinic offers more than just chiropractic care. It is a multi-disciplinary practice, offering sports therapy, counselling, yoga and more. They also do radiography and the team’s background includes nutrition and biomechanics, so they can offer quality help and advice.
Due to their success (as well as the need for chiropractic care on the east coast) Dundee Chiropractic Clinic also has premises in Fife and Edinburgh.
And to help kickstart your journey to a better quality of life, take advantage of the extended offer of 25% off an initial consultation (terms and conditions apply).
