An incredible 21 millionaires have been made in Dundee and Angus since the National Lottery was launched two decades ago, it has been revealed.
208 players in the DD postcode area have banked prizes of more than £50,000 since the first draw in November 1994, while 21 people have won more than £1 million.
Across the UK, the National Lottery has created 5,000 millionaires since it was launched with 1,000 of these made in the past two and a half years — equivalent to one every day.
The organisation has also conducted a survey which reveals what winners say is the best thing about winning.
Contrary to popular wisdom, National Lottery millionaires have declared the best thing about their win is not their newly-glamorous lifestyle, but the happiness gained from sharing the cash with others.
In all 98% of respondents revealed they gifted cash to family with 19% of all winnings given away.
