A new restaurant is about to open in Dundee’s historic City Vaults, part of the Caird Hall building.
Brassica, owned by entrepreneur Dea McGill, has already employed 30 staff and is expected to open in the middle of the month.
The restaurant had its licence for on and off-sales approved by the city licensing board in February and the owners are applying for listed building consent to put illuminated letters on the outside of the building prior to opening.
It will be one of the first restaurants to occupy the new units created on Shore Terrace, at the rear of the Caird Hall.
The project has been welcomed as good news for the city.
Alison Henderson, of Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce, said she was delighted to welcome the opening of Brassica.
She said: “These are critical spaces for the city and it’s great news that a restaurant is to be opening here in the near future.
“This site links the waterfront, the V&A, The McManus and the town centre – providing a very important link between the new development and the rest of the town.
“It’s great to see new business coming into Dundee and also adding to the local job market.
“Brassica has already played a big part in helping the local unemployed – it has held a hospitality academy for people who are out of work and in that way is giving back to the city.”
