Fake Festival returned to Dundee for a second year with six tribute bands performing in brilliant sunshine at a city park.
The festival, which attracted 1,200 for its inaugural event last summer, was said to have been even “bigger” this year, with double the line-up.
Bands with names such as Kazabian, The Fillers, Guns2Roses, Blondied, The Really Hot Chili Peppers and Alladinsane – a Bowie tribute – performed at Lochee Park on Saturday.
The music ran from 12pm until 11pm, with the bands performing inside a giant marquee.
There was a bar, food stalls, children’s rides and inflatables, face painting and a rodeo competition to complement the music.
The festival attracted a crowd of mixed ages including children, young people and even those of pension age.
Although the acts were tribute bands, they are ‘touring grade” professional musicians who aim to stick as closely as possible to the original versions of the songs.
Fake Festival started out in the Lincolnshire town of Haxey in 2007, with events held all over the UK to this day.
Other locations this year include Greenock, Taunton in Somerset, Bristol, Chester Le Street, Leeds, Leicester, Thetford in Norfolk, Lincoln, Tamworth and Worcester, with bands paying tribute to the Rolling Stones, the Stereophonics and the Foo Fighters, among others.
