Problems which plagued the release of tickets yesterday for the opening weekend of Dundee’s new £80 million V&A museum have struck again today.
The waterfront attraction is set to open to the public on September 15 with free tickets for that weekend having been made available online on Wednesday morning and again this morning to those who pre-registered.
Hundreds of eager visitors however reported difficulties in selecting tickets on Wednesday with many losing out. V&A Dundee apologised and said the problems would be ironed out as quickly as possible.
The tickets were made available again today by email link at 10am but the problems experienced on Wednesday have reportedly persisted.
The ticket queue was paused within 40 minutes with V&A Dundee promising to fix the ‘technical problem’.
A V&A Dundee spokesperson said: “We’re sorry to those who experienced issues and we appreciate people’s patience.
“There has been exceptionally high interest in visiting the museum during opening weekend and we want to apologise to those who have been waiting in the queue.
“We are asking those who have had issues to enter into a ballot before midnight tonight [Thursday 26 July] for the remaining 3000 tickets.
“From Monday 17 September no tickets will be required to enter V&A Dundee.
“Today an extended ballot for Friday evening at the 3D Festival opened, so we would also encourage people to register for this over the next two weeks.
“The family-friendly 3D Festival on the Saturday will be free and open to everyone on a drop-in basis, with no tickets required.”
