A Dundee nurse is to cycle from London to Paris in three days to raise money for a cancer charity.
Jacqui Robertson, 44, took up cycling relatively recently, as part of her recuperation from spinal surgery.
After catching the pedal bug, she decided to put her new-found love of the sport together with her fundraising activities, signing up for the Women v Cancer challenge.
The epic cycle will see Jacqui ride out from London, around the idyllic Kent coast and across the Dover straight.
From there, they will pedal as fast as they can through Northern France, taking in the sights of the country in its autumnal hues before heading down the Champs Elysee and coming to a halt under the Eiffel Tower.
With only three days to complete the near-250 mile journey the group will have to set themselves a very brisk pace, with Jacqui’s training already in full swing.
She said: “I just love Paris, I can’t really explain why I do but there is just something magical about it. So when I was given the chance to take part in a cycle to the French capital, I could hardly say no.
“A close friend is in remission, having been treated for breast cancer, which is my main motivation for taking part in this adventure.
“I have done charity work for years, I really enjoy it and raising money for the three cancer charities on this three day race will be a real challenge.
“With it taking place in October, we will hopefully miss some of the more intense heat with it still being nice to ride in.”
The woman-only group will support three charities on their ride – Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.
Jacqui has already raised more than £1,600 for the event and is eagerly looking for further sponsorship, especially from local companies and businesses.
Anyone who is interested in sponsoring Jacqui can do so by emailing her at jacquidfc@hotmail.co.uk .
