Police have warned Dundee and Aberdeen fans not to arrive for Saturday’s Scottish Premiership clash drunk.
Tayside Police Division issued a statement ahead of the Dens Park game telling supporters of both clubs not to drink on the city’s streets, in the stadium or when travelling “to and from the game”.
The force said supporters who arrive for the game under the influence of alcohol will be refused entry to the match and potentially “arrested”.
The police called for Dons and Dark Blues fans to “enjoy the fixture safely and responsibly” and to “be respectful to residents in our local community when arriving and leaving the ground”.
Inspector Martin Pattie said: “This is the first Premier League game of the new season in Dundee and we want both sets of supporters to enjoy it.
“Officers will be working with both clubs to ensure the match day experience is safe for all supporters before, during and after the game.
“I would like to remind fans that they should not drink alcohol in the street, in the stadium or when travelling to and from the game. Those attending the ground drunk won’t be permitted entry into the stadium and may well be arrested.
“The majority of fans will come to the match with their families and friends to enjoy great day out so please arrive in good time and be respectful to residents in our local community when arriving and leaving the ground.”
The game kicks off at 3pm.
