A family business that has had been selling clothes in Broughty Ferry for over 100 years is expanding its offering to customers.
Millars of Broughty Ferry has opened its new childrenswear shop, Mini Me @ Millars, in Gray Street. The shop is the third on the street for the business, which also has Accessorise @ Millars.
Owner Jonathan Booth, who is the third generation of the family to run the business, said: “Opening a kids clothing shop was something that me and my wife Kerry-Lyn had always looked at doing.
“Then when the property became available just three doors down from our accessories shop, we felt now was the time.”
Formerly Annika ladies clothing shop, the premises was stripped right back to the brickwork and refitted to make it perfect for what Jonathan and Kerry-Lyn wanted for Mini Me. In just seven weeks, the duo went from picking up the keys to opening the shop’s doors to the public.
Due to the family’s legacy selling clothing in the area, Jonathan and Melanie McIntosh, who is the Mini Me shop manager, know that the knowledge and level of customer service puts them ahead of many of their competitors.
Jonathan said: “My aim is customer service – we want everyone who walks through the doors of one of our three shops to have a good experience with us.
“We work hard to keep things at a high level and we really do listen to customer feedback so we can ensure we are offering what our customers are looking for.”
Mini Me will stock clothes for boys and girls, from newborn all the way to 14-years-old. Among the ranges will be Spanish brand Mayoral, Mintini Baby and Levi. There will also be a selection of footwear, including offerings by XTI Shoes.
The shop will change what it offers seasonally, and although it will mainly stock everyday wear, there will be some occasion wear, including outfits for Christmas.
Jonathan added: “We can’t wait to welcome customers to the shop.”
