The extent of the damage from Tuesday night’s fire at Braeview Academy has been revealed in new aerial photos and video footage this morning.
Every fire and police crew in the north of the city was called in to tackle the blaze at the secondary school in Whitfield.
The entire roof of the academy was engulfed in flames shortly after 9pm on Tuesday, with firefighters working to bring the incident under control into Wednesday morning.
Local licensed drone company Rising View has shared these images showing major damage to one section of the Dundee school.
The images also show how firefighters’ efforts in testing windy conditions appear to have restricted the spread of the flames.
Dundee City Council has confirmed the school is closed today, and expects to update on future plans later this morning.
The new photos taken shortly after daybreak would seem to confirm that pupils will need to be found alternative accommodation for some considerable time before the damage can be repaired.
