A Dundee youth music scheme is appealing for bands, singers and songwriters to apply for their mentoring programme.
The Gardyne youth music initiative is moving into its fifth phase after five years of developing more than 180 musicians.
Gardyne Studios, in partnership with Creative Scotland, Dundee and Angus College and Dundee City Council are looking for 10 bands or musicians, aged between 14 and 25.
They will receive coaching on different aspects of the music industry including advice in how to break into the field, talks with professional musicians, free recording and rehearsal time and the chance to be part of a compilation CD.
The participants will also have the chance to perform live at the Gardyne Theatre.
Programme manager Mike Brown said: “The programme offers the opportunity for young musicians who write their own material to participate in a mentoring programme supported by professional musicians.
“It includes free rehearsal and recording time at Gardyne Theatre recording studios to develop and produce material that will contribute towards a CD album showcasing their work.
“In addition, participants will have the opportunity to perform live at Gardyne Theatre in a showcase event and will be given advice and support throughout the programme on the many complex and unfamiliar aspects of the music industry.”
The project will take place at the Gardyne campus of Dundee and Angus College between November and April for the rehearsal and recording phases, with the final showcase performance mid 2019.
The program also offers the opportunity for 16 young people interested in studio recording and live sound to explore the processes involved in sound engineering and production.
Support may be available to participants who require assistance with travel costs to the Gardyne Theatre.
