Dundee’s long-awaited £1.5 million trampoline centre is set to open on Tuesday.

The finishing touches are currently being put to the 37,000 square foot Ryze park, which will be based inside Soccerworld on Old Glamis Road.

Four of the centre’s five-a-side football pitches are being converted.

As well as trampolines, the park also features an aerial ninja obstacle course, super trampolines, foam pits, dodgeball and hanging bags.

It will be Ryze UK’s third Scottish venue alongside its centres in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Ryze had two earlier bids to create the trampoline centre in alternative locations rejected by Dundee City Council.

The company originally wanted to open the park at the Stack Leisure Park in Lochee.

When these plans were rejected it switched focus to Claverhouse Industrial Estate.

Ryze identified premises on Charles Bowman Avenue but fell foul of Dundee City Council’s planning policies, which said the site had been designated as a principal economic area.

The local authority also said locating the trampoline park in the industrial estate could tkae business away from other leisure activities in the city.

Ryze then settled on converting part of Soccerworld. A third set of plans were submitted in August last year and won approval from councillors in November.

Work started on the Soccerworld conversion in May.

A spokeswoman for Ryze said it is anticipated the centre will open on Tuesday.

Ryze already operates more than 25 similar facilities across the world  in continental Europe, America and Asia.

Ryze Dundee will be open from 10am to 9pm Mondays to Saturdays and from 10am to 6pm on Sundays.

The imminent of opening of the centre has led to concerns about parking for students at the nearby Dundee and Angus College campus.

Students had previously had enjoyed free access to 100 parking spaces but new electric and manual barriers have been put in place due the anticipated surge in demand for spaces.

Visitors to the activity centres will be issued with a token to get in and out of the secured area free of charge.
