A Dundee man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following an incident in HMP Grampian at Peterhead,
Robert Stratton, 44, appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court earlier this month following the September 3 incident.
He faces several charges including attempted murder, assault to injury and permanent disfigurement and assault to severe injury.
Stratton, formerly of Drumlanrig Drive in Dundee, made no plea or declaration.
The case has been fully committed for trial and was remanded in custody.
Police Scotland Detective Inspector Stewart Drummond said: “A 44-year-old man has been charged in relation to an alleged attempted murder at HMP Grampian on Monday, September 3.”
HMP Grampian opened in 2014 as a replacement for HMP Peterhead and HMP Aberdeen.
The prison is capable of holding over 500 inmates.
It houses both male and female offenders of all ages.
