A woman has been arrested after a quiet Dundee cul-de-sac was rocked by reports a resident had been “stabbed” in her home.
A woman was taken to hospital following an alleged attack at around 7.30pm on Wednesday.
Officers stood guard outside the house well into last night, with forensics officers and Criminal Investigation Detectives (CID) spotted carrying out their duties.
One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said they saw blood being sprayed off the stones outside the scene of the alleged crime.
Yesterday afternoon, a spade and a fire extinguisher were visible on the path separating the front lawn and the main house building at the alleged crime scene, wrapped in a polythene bag.
It is not known whether the spade has been taken by police as evidence, or whether it was used in any way during the course of the incident.
A police car remained in the driveway and crime-scene tape remained tethered to the drain pipes and on fence posts to the back of the house.
It is understood the woman taken to hospital for treatment was in her 30s and her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Police could not give an update as to the scale or severity of the alleged victim’s injuries.
A 32-year-old woman has been arrested, but as yet has not been charged.
A close neighbour, who asked not to be named, said she was shocked at what had been reported.
“This is quite a close-knit street, everyone is looking out for their neighbours,” she said.

“I saw loads of police and cars last night and they have been scouring the street all day on Thursday.
“After everything kicked off yesterday, an officer was here to take a statement.
“I’m afraid I didn’t see what happened, but I am glad no one appears to have died.”
Isabelle Myles has lived on the street since it was built, moving in less than a decade ago.
The 70-year-old said: “I saw lots of lights flashing from my living-room window and when I got up to look, there were lots of officers around the house.
“They stayed there for a good couple of hours.”
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Officers attended at an address on Hoylake Place shortly before 8pm on Wednesday night in response to reports of an ongoing disturbance.
“As a result of inquiries made, a 32-year-old woman has been arrested.
“Further inquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
