The family of a man who fell from the Tay Road Bridge more than two weeks ago have been notified after a body was found near Dundee docks on Thursday.
Police were called to the Grassy Beach near Stannergate after the body was found by a member of the public around 8.35am.
There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and officers have informed relatives of the man who fell into the Tay on September 12 about the discovery.
The man, whose identity has not been released, sparked a missing person search after falling from the road bridge.
An initial search of the water by RNLI lifeboats and HM Coastguard crews failed to find anything, prompting the investigation.
The bridge was closed in both directions for nearly two hours while the incident was under way.
Witnesses saw police arrive at the beach area just after 8am on Thursday.
A spokesman for Police Scotland’s Tayside Division said: “Officers are currently making inquiries, but it is not believed there are any suspicious circumstances.
“The family of the man who was believed to have entered the River Tay from the Tay Road Bridge on Wednesday September 12 have been informed
“Our thoughts are with them.”
