Delegates from the cream of the UK games industry will descend on Dundee for a major gathering.
Abertay University is hosting the Association for UK Interactive Entertainment (UKIE) students conference.
Among the key speakers at the free event will be Hannah Watts, an Abertay graduate who know works as a senior artist at Coatsink, and Chris Bain, a former general manager at Xbox
Other experts on the diverse line-up include Karl Jones, a software developer at Unity, and Tom Goodchild, another Abertay graduate who set up an independent games company from his home in Dundee.
Gregor White, head of Abertay’s school of design and informatics, said: “Abertay’s video game courses have been ranked the best in Europe for the past four years, which makes the university the ideal venue for this fantastic event.
“The UKIE Student conference will give our students the chance to engage with key figures in the industry and I’m delighted that we’re able to host them.”
A spokesman for UKIE added: “The Ukie Student Conferences provide an incredible opportunity for students to listen and network with industry experts.
“These events afford the perfect platform to gain an understanding in to what life in the video game industry entails, and what skills they need.”
UKIE – which is pronounced “you-key” – is the trade body for the country’s games industry, which lobbies and advocates across the world.
The conference, on October 31, is free to attend and will run from noon – 7.30pm.
A second country-wide games event will be held in the city in November.
The DCT Media organised UK Games Fund Awards 2018 is taking place in the Apex City Quay Hotel on November 14.
It will celebrate new talent in the UK games industry and the best of the country’s independent developers.
The awards are being run by DCT Media Events, in association with 4J Studios.
Judging took place at DC Thomson’s London office on Fleet Street.
