A Dundee-based chef is enter the heat of battle against the best in the world for a new television series.
Graham Campbell, chef/director of Castlehill Restaurant, will star in online entertainment streaming site Netflix’s The Final Table.
The show, launching on November 20, brings 24 of the best chefs in the world together and sees them compete to master the cuisine of nine different countries.
After each intense and high-pressure round, they are then judged by culinary legends from across the globe.
The winner at the end of the series is then given a spot at the elite ‘final table’ with the world’s greatest chefs.
Having begun working at the Exchange Street eatery three years ago, the kitchen star, who hails from the west coast town of Oban, has become one of Britain’s top chefs.
At just 25, he became the youngest ever Scottish chef to be awarded a Michelin star — the international mark of distinction.
Mr Campbell, who is the only Scot to appear on the show, said the creative challenges tested his skills to the limit.
He said: “Each episode focuses on a different country and its cuisine, with celebrity ambassadors, food critics and the country in question’s greatest chef eliminating teams until the finale.
“I’m paired with top New York chef Aaron Bludorn and in the first episode, which features Mexican food, we’re challenged to cook cactus. That certainly tests our culinary skills and imagination.
“The Final Table takes television cookery contests to a whole new level of competitiveness, excitement and gastronomy.
“To sit with the world’s greatest chefs is a prize without price. It’s every chef’s dream.”
The appearance is not his first foray into television.
In 2015, he starred in the BBC’s Great British Menu, in which British chefs originating from various regions across the UK compete to produce the best menu.
Mr Campbell added his experience on the show will now take Castlehill to the next level.
He said: “Obviously, I can’t reveal the final results but I’m very happy with my performance.
“I’m also very proud that my appearance on the world’s biggest cookery show will further boost Scotland’s – and Dundee’s – reputation for fine dining.
“After working alongside 23 of the world’s top young chefs and learning from legendary chefs, I’ve come back to Dundee with so many new and exciting ideas for the Castlehill’s cuisine. Castlehill’s about to become the place to eat in Scotland.”
Netflix is the world’s leading entertainment service with the show available to over 130 million subscribers in 190 different countries.
