Thieves with eyes on the pies attempted break-ins at two Dundee bakers on Sunday night.
Staff at Greggs on Strathmartine Road went to work this morning to find officers already in attendance at the store.
It is understood nothing was taken in the raid but scene of crime officers attended later on Monday morning as part of the police investigation.
A spokesman for the force said two men were seen within the premises at around 5.35am.
He said: “One is described as wearing grey jogging bottoms and light coloured jumper and the other man wore all dark clothing.
“Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting 0403 of October 29 or speak to any police officers.
“Alternatively if you have any information about the incident you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their Anonymous Online Form at crimestoppers-uk.org.”
Thieves also attempted a second break-in at another bakery on Sunday night.
It is understood thieves targeted Bayne’s on Lochee High Street late on Sunday night.
They again left empty-handed.
It is not yet known if the two incidents are connected.
